Cancer

The ‘Get checked’ programme works closely with local people to increase the early detection of breast, lung and bowel cancers across Halton and St Helens.

Volunteers are at the heart of ‘Get checked’ and work closely with the Health Improvement Team. They are active in the communities where knowledge about cancer is low.

The key goal of ‘Get checked’ is to encourage people to recognise signs and symptoms and those with unusual symptoms to seek help from their GP earlier. Early detection of cancers is critical to their successful treatment.

If you would like to find out more about the programme or become a volunteer call 0300 300 0103 or email health.improvement@nhs.net.
